A Beacon of Hope, United for All

At Beacon United, we are built on a simple commitment: we show up with consistency, treat people with dignity, turn care into connection, and connect people to the resources they need.

Hands joined together in community support.

About

Built from one week of showing up, and then never stopping

Beacon United started with a couple of high school volunteers who noticed a gap in our community: people experiencing homelessness were being talked about, but not consistently supported. We began by learning names, needs, routines, and what “help” actually meant to the person in front of us.

Today, we organize outreach events, share meals and essentials, and connect neighbors to services. We measure impact, but we never reduce people to numbers.

Our mission

To deliver consistent, human-centered support and community care. We aim to meet immediate needs while building trust and pathways to long-term stability. One day, we hope to be a resource for every unhoused individual in the United States. Our Pillars are:

Being Consistent
Treating People with Dignity
Building Meaningful Connections
Connecting People to the Resources They Need
Why it matters

America’s homelessness crisis is growing rapidly.

The U.S. is at a record high: homelessness rose 18% from the 2023 Point-in-Time count to the 2024 count, now reaching 771,480 people. Demand is rising, and yet resources are decreasing. (Source: National Alliance to End Homelessness — State of Homelessness)

Homelessness is driven by an affordability crisis and weak safety nets. Behind the numbers are neighbors navigating job loss, medical bills, unsafe housing, and rents that outpace wages.

Providing food, care, and meaningful support isn’t just about meeting basic needs. It helps restore hope to people too often left behind. Offering a meal and consistent presence lets neighbors know they’re seen, valued, and have a place to turn to. These small acts serve as a Beacon of Hope, creating connection and stability and paving the way to long-term change.

What helps (and what we’re building toward)

Evidence-backed approaches work: expanding deeply affordable housing, boosting income supports, ensuring access to voluntary healthcare and services, and providing a daily meal and consistent presence. This, paired with consistent, housing-focused outreach, is the Beacon United difference. We show up with dignity and hope today, with the long-term goal of ending homelessness in the United States. We are:

  • Housing first: Stabilize people with safe, affordable housing, then wrap services around what they choose and need.
  • Paths to Stability: Income supports, healthcare, and other services to help people get back on their feet.
  • Meals and essentials: Keeping people fed and clothed, and providing them with the resources they need to get by.

Every donation is a vote for consistency: outreach that respects dignity today, and advocacy for systems that end homelessness tomorrow.
